In order to make the best use of the lockdown where teachers and students alike were available and open to learning, we took the digital route to reach out to a large variety of people. The online classes and webinars ranged to encompass a variety of subjects from Physical Literacy to High performance in sports to even sports psychology.
The highlight of our online endeavors was a candid talk between P. Gopichand, Chief National Badminton Coach and physical literacy promoter, and Margaret Whitehead, philosopher and ‘mother’ of the modern interpretation of physical literacy. This talk emphasized on the importance of physical literacy as people around the country and the world are fighting against the COVID-19 pandemic. This webinar was attended by over one hundred eminent members from the bureaucracy and civil society organizations from across the country.
Webinars on Physical Literacy:
The webinars and online seminars on physical literacy were done in order to help engage teachers, physical education students as well as administrators to help them understand the importance of physical literacy. The sessions covered topics such as introduction to physical literacy, human values, minor games and games at home during quarantine in addition to sessions on sports policy.
In order to promote physical literacy across the country, we partnered with a wider variety of organizations such as North Delhi Municipal Corporation, MP Education department, Odisha SCERT, Manipal University, XL Roots and Mumbai Division Sports, Abhinav Bindra Foundation, KIIT International Schools, ISST Pune, District Sports Office Nashik, Swarnim Gujarat Sports University, Symbiosis International University, Pune, Aksara Foundation and Reliance Foundation Schools.
Through our endeavors, we were able to reach out to over 1800 participants. These participants included PE Teachers, B.PEd and M.PEd students, sports coaches, administrators and sports science students.
Webinars on High Performance:
The webinars and online seminars on physical literacy were done in order to help engage students of Sports Nutrition, Sports Science and MBA students of institutes such as National Institute of Nutrition, Hyderabad, Symbiosis International University, Pune and Swarnim Gujarat Sports University. The topics covered in the sessions included Understanding of High Performance Management and Emotional intelligence for High Performance Managers.
Through our endeavors, we were able to reach out to over 350 participants in these online seminars.
Webinars on Psychology:
In order to cater to the mental needs of the athletes in lockdown, we tied up with Ultimate Table Tennis to engage with their athletes in lockdown. During this period, our sport psycho- logist conducted webinars for two table tennis academies – one each in Hyderabad and Kolkata. The webinars discussed ‘Sport Psychology - An Introduction & Application to Table Tennis’ and ‘Building Self-Awareness in the path to Mental Skill Mastery’. Close to 60 athletes were helped with these sessions.
In addition to this, our psychologist gave a talk on Mental Health During and Post COVID – 19 at Dr BR Ambedkar University, Agra to close to 1000 participants.
